Meet Katie

What made you start teaching fitness/at FlowCorps?

I grew up dancing competitively and I always found it hard to find a form of exercise that motivated me in the same way I was motivated to get through physically challenging choreography. Then I took my first class at FlowCorps. The focus on connecting movement to music makes classes fun and motivating, and I love making playlists that I know will energize the room even early in the morning.

What is your favorite part of teaching?

Connecting with clients! I love seeing them start to notice their own improvement over time and their excitement when they finish class knowing they pushed through that last power round when they thought they couldn’t.

What is your favorite exercise & why?

I am a big fan of the front carriage lunge. You really need to focus and find your balance, and it forces me to slow down and breathe (which I sometimes need to be forced to do).

What is your teaching style?

I would say encouraging but lighthearted. I want to encourage everyone to push themselves and level up whenever they can, but I’m more likely to try to sneak in more core work from laughing during class than to tell you not to take a break during abs.

What would a typical playlist of yours include?

Definitely a RANGE. Specifically early 2010’s EDM, at least 1 remix of a song you never expected to hear remixed, maybe some early 2000’s alternative rock, and a lot of Calvin Harris.
