Meet Megan
What made you start teaching fitness/at FlowCorps?
I am inspired by the capabilities of the human body in pursuit of sport, strength, and flexibility. Our bodies are amazing creations and we humans can do amazing things! I prioritize efficient, safe functional movement in every exercise modality I teach, including yoga, sprint intervals, and personal training, in addition to Pilates reformer work. Attention to and emphasis on proper alignment of the body in all planes of motion is integral to my practice, and it is why I love working at FlowCorps.
What is your favorite part of teaching?
My favorite part of teaching is educating clients on not only what proper form looks like, but what it FEELS like. The more we practice mindfully in the studio, the more our spinal and muscular alignment transfers to our lives outside the studio, which is, of course, the entire goal.
What is your favorite exercise & why?
I love power rounds! When the beat drop hits and the musical tempo is fast/intense, I just can't hold back. Skater is one of my favorites. Nothing makes me happier than feeling powerful and strong at the same time as I move to the music.
What is your teaching style?
My favorite classes are when the intensity of the work and movement aligns with the intensity of the music. My classes are designed to challenge every client, to bring them to the edge - where they feel empowered and BAD ASS, and where perhaps they might quit if they were at home, but the music and the class vibe keeps them going. My goal is NEVER to injure any body by pushing past physical ability: the goal is to find each clients' edge, work at that edge, and then feel really good about conquering class when it's all over.
What would a typical playlist of yours include?
I really just like music, and I like teaching to it. I never use the same playlist twice - you can hear anything in my class. I use Pop, Rap, Country, Rock, One Hit Wonders...everything. I love a good theme playlist too! Music is a way to have fun and bring energy to the workout. If it's a good jam, you will hear it in my class!
